This is a world first. On December 5, Meta (parent company of Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp) in partnership with Simplon.co, a social and solidarity-based digital training company, and the South Region, will launch its first academy dedicated to metavers in Marseille. Located at the Cloître (13th district), the free and inclusive school will offer training in virtual, augmented and mixed reality to around twenty students. During a first phase of intensive individual training sessions lasting 3 to 4 months, followed by a second phase of 15 to 16 months of alternating work experience in local companies that are partners of the school. A dozen companies have already committed to recruiting a work-study student at the end of the training programme, including: Wixar, Abim and Cross the Age.

After Marseille, the metaverse academy will open its doors in the coming weeks in Nice, Paris and Lyon. In total, around one hundred students will participate in this first pilot year.
